Moderation

So you're having a nice day. Birds are singing, flowers are blooming, members are chatting, and...oh boy, it's that annoying Luna guy again.

He's been annoying you and your members a lot lately. They've been global banned for it before, but the ban was temporary and now he's back for more! What do you do?

Fear not, my dear server admin, Unifier comes with moderation commands built-in to help you deal with them for a while, or maybe even once and for all. Any moderator with Kick/Ban members permission can server restrict a user or an entire server, which means they can still send stuff in Unified Chat, but they can't send anything to your server. So your members can rest assured that they won't see anything from those annoying members.

First, try asking them to stop

If it's something rather moderate, we would recommend asking the user to stop before you take any further action. This way, conflicts can be peacefully resolved without anyone needing to take action against anyone.

However, if this does not help, you may need to take action.

So, what can you do?

There are many features you can use on Unifier to protect your server from bad actors.

Action 1: report the message

If you believe the message Luna sent is against the room's rules, you can always report the message. To do this, right click on the message, then hover over apps, then press "Report message". Make sure you click the one in the Apps menu, otherwise you may be reporting the message to Discord rather than your Unifier moderators.

Follow the instructions on the response you're given to report the message, and moderators will review it.

Action 2: delete the message

You can also delete the message from the server, if you don't want it there. Do note that this will not delete the messages sent to other servers, unless the message you're deleting is the .

Using the u!delete command and the Delete message button will not work, as they're for global deletions only. Only Unifier moderators and the message author can use this.

Action 3: Temporarily or permanently block

If things do not get better, you can always block Luna by running u!ban user_id. This will completely stop the user from sending the messages to your server until you u!unban him.

If the attacks are not from specific users, but from an entire server, you can also block the server instead of individual users.

To find a user or server ID, run u!find while replying to the message you want to identify the source of.

Automatic moderation

We work on a Plugin called RaidGuard, which comes with automatic moderation features, so the chat is protected from bad actors wanting to harm the network. These include:

RapidPhish - fast typosquatting detector

RapidPhish is a home-grown solution to a lot of the Discord Nitro scams you see out there. It works like this:

  1. Take the message sent, then remove any bypasses that may be used to get around RapidPhish.

  2. Identify all URLs/domains sent in the message.

  3. Compare them with official Discord domains. If there's a match, or the domain is too different, it's safe. If there's no matches, but the domain is too similar, this is probably typosquatting!

By eliminating typosquatting, we're protecting Unifier networks from at least 80% of all Discord Nitro scams out there. Any detection is automatically reported to moderators, so they can review the message and decide whether to take action or not.

Anti-invite and anti-raid

Another feature is an invite blocker. We added this feature into Unifier, because by sending an invite through the network, you're mass advertising to a lot of people because your server isn't the only one receiving the invite.

To prevent bypasses to get around the detection, we use the same bypass killer RapidPhish uses to identify even more invites.
